About Us

Alice Hale, Founder of Physio With Alice
BSc (Hons), MCSP, Qualified 2014

Hello! I'm Alice, welcome to the site - here's a bit about me to help you make your decision about whether I might be the right therapist for you.

Experience

I have a decade of experience behind me, having worked in the UK and abroad (France, Singapore) in a range of settings including: the NHS, private clinics, schools and the charity sector.

I completed my training at King’s College London and my junior clinical rotations in Warwickshire (Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Community Paediatrics, weekend & on-call Respiratory). Next, I flew to the Alps to treat sports injuries and develop my love for skiing. After an unforgettable experience, I returned to the UK, locumming in the NHS in stroke rehabilitation whilst looking for my next adventure. I moved out to Asia, where (in between the food and exploring) I treated a whole host of conditions and people including; sports/postural issues, palliative elderly care and even took on the paediatric neurology home service.

Since being back in the UK, I’ve been able to consolidate my skills and bring all my true loves and strengths together to work as a Senior Physiotherapist at a specialist further education college in Gloucestershire. There, I work with young adults with a range of highly complex physical needs as well as learning disabilities. My strong analytical skills and sound clinical reasoning, combined with empathy and compassion, help me deliver excellent, personalised care to the incredible individuals at the college and it’s a joy to be part of meaningful change.

What now?

I have loved my career and I’ve witnessed first-hand the power of thoughtful, tailored care and the importance of rehabilitation to help people get the most out of life. I know that a friendly face, a fun game and a motivating goal can go such a long way to keeping up, what can often be, years of mental and physical work.

Sadly, I see all too often that many health and social care systems across the country are not set up how we need them to be. There is rarely the option for "maintenance sessions" which, for a lot of people with multiple and complex needs, are essential. People work really hard to get to where they need or want to be: physically, emotionally and mentally, but face a scary and uncertain future when they finish their educational programmes, or their inpatient treatment. These people face a high risk of decline whilst they wait for physiotherapy (and other) input that may or may not come.

I know that I can help in this area and that's why I've started; Physio With Alice (est. June 2024). I want to provide essential physiotherapy support for people who are in the gaps of the current systems and start asking the hard questions, doing the research and advocating for wider access to this care.
